Please read these Cordex-Terminology Terms & Conditions (Terminology Terms) carefully. By subscribing to, accessing or using Cordex-Terminology, you agree to be bound by these Terminology Terms and our general Terms & Conditions. If there is any inconsistency for matters specific to Cordex-Terminology, these Terminology Terms prevail. Use of the Software is also governed by the Cordex-Terminology End User Licence Agreement and the Cordex-Terminology Privacy & Data-Flow Statement.
Acceptance
These Terminology Terms apply to every Plan and trial of Cordex-Terminology. If you accept them on behalf of an organisation, you warrant that you have authority to bind it, and "you" includes that organisation.
The service
Cordex-Terminology is a hosted service that lets your applications look up, search, validate and map codes and reference data through an API, including FHIR R4 terminology operations. Content is loaded from authoritative sources on a schedule, validated, and compared with the previous release before it is published.
Licence & subscription
Subject to payment of the applicable fees and compliance with these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access the API from your own applications, for the subject areas and limits of your Plan, during your Subscription.
Plans & limits
Plans are priced in US dollars (USD) per year and billed yearly in advance. Australian customers add 10% GST. Each plan includes 1 seat. The current plans, prices, datasets and limits are those published on the Cordex-Terminology plans section at the time of purchase. In summary:
- Clinical (USD 8,280 per year): SNOMED CT-AU, including the Australian Medicines Terminology (AMT); ICD-11 for Mortality and Morbidity Statistics; ICD-10-CM; LOINC; Units of measure (UCUM); CDC immunisation code sets (CVX, MVX, vaccine groups, VIS, product names, CPT to CVX, NDC tables); CDC NNDSS event codes and notifiable condition history; Australian National Notifiable Disease List; FHIR R4 terminology server with SNOMED CT ECL. 1,200 calls per minute.
- Geography (USD 3,480 per year): Australian addresses (G-NAF), with localities and postcodes; Countries and regions; States and provinces; Time zones, with Windows names; International dialling codes. 1,200 calls per minute.
- People (USD 1,080 per year): Languages; Sex and gender (ABS standard 2020); Occupations (ABS OSCA 2024); Emoji. 1,200 calls per minute.
- Commerce (USD 1,080 per year): Currencies; SI units of measure; Units of measure (UCUM). 1,200 calls per minute.
- Science (USD 2,280 per year): Periodic table of elements; Global taxonomy, all kingdoms (animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, viruses and more), with scientific and English common names and full hierarchy (GBIF Backbone Taxonomy); SI units of measure. 1,200 calls per minute.
- Enterprise (USD 11,880 per year): Every dataset in every plan, including future areas. 6,000 calls per minute.
Every plan includes REST and OData v4 access for Dynamics 365, Dataverse and Power BI, new datasets in its area as they are added, release pinning and a change feed. Datasets marked "coming soon" are not yet available and are not part of your entitlement until released.
Free trial
A 30-day free trial is available on any Plan, for 1 seat, with the same features and limits as the paid Plan. No payment card is needed to start a trial. At the end of the trial, access stops unless you start a paid Subscription.
Rate limits & fair use
Calls above your Plan's rate limit may be delayed or rejected. You must not attempt to bypass rate limits, for example by spreading traffic across multiple keys or accounts. If your usage consistently exceeds your Plan, we may contact you about a larger Plan or an Enterprise agreement.
API keys
Licence keys, activations and API keys are issued for your use only. You must keep them secure and must not share, publish or transfer them. We may verify, limit, rotate or revoke keys in line with your Plan and these terms, including where we reasonably suspect misuse.

Much of the content served by Cordex-Terminology is owned by third parties and is provided under their licences. Your use of that content must comply with those licences, including any attribution requirements.

Accuracy & clinical use
Content reflects the source releases we have loaded and may lag behind the latest releases. We do not warrant that the content is complete, current or error-free. Clinical codes support documentation and interoperability; they are not clinical advice. You are responsible for validating results for your use case, especially in clinical or safety-critical systems.
Availability
We aim to keep the service available and to give notice of planned maintenance, but no service level is guaranteed unless it is set out in a written Enterprise agreement.
Enterprise agreements
Higher throughput, a service level agreement, a private deployment, or bespoke subject areas are available under a written Enterprise agreement. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Payment & renewal
Subscriptions run for 12 months, are billed yearly in advance in USD at the yearly price shown, and renew automatically for further 12-month terms unless you cancel before the renewal date. Australian customers add 10% GST. Payments are processed by our checkout provider. All of our software, including this service, is sold as a subscription. Fees are not refundable, in whole or in part, including for unused months or cancellation during a term; when you cancel, your subscription continues until the end of the period you have paid for. This does not limit any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Data handling
We process the requests your applications send to the API in order to answer them, and keep operational logs (such as timestamps, API key, endpoint and response status) for security, billing and troubleshooting. You must not send personal or health information in API requests; send codes and search terms only. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
Use restrictions
You must not, and must not permit anyone to:
- use the Product beyond the entitlements of your Plan, or circumvent licence, seat, user or rate limits;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive source code, except to the extent permitted by law;
- resell, rent, sub-license, white-label or make the Product available to third parties, except as expressly agreed in writing;
- use the Product in breach of any law, third-party right or professional obligation; or
- introduce malware, probe or load-test our systems without written permission, or interfere with their integrity or performance.
Support
Paid Plans and trials include email support. Support covers the API as supplied; it does not extend to your applications, integrations or third-party software.
Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in the Product, including software, documentation, data structures, the API and its documentation, branding and updates, are and remain owned by us or our licensors. Except for the limited licence in these terms, no rights are transferred. You retain all rights in your own data.
Warranties
Subject to the Australian Consumer Law and the general Terms, the Product is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for every environment or purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes any consumer guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Liability
The limitation of liability, indemnity and Professional Standards provisions in our general Terms apply. Our total aggregate liability in connection with the Product is limited to the fees you paid us for it in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, to the extent permitted by law.
Termination
You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops the next renewal, and access continues to the end of the paid 12-month term. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, including licence or rate-limit breaches, and do not remedy the breach within a reasonable time after notice, or immediately where required to protect the service or third-party licensors.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Changes to prices or entitlements apply from your next renewal unless you agree otherwise. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, regardless of where you are located or where the Products or Services are used. Each party submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland, the federal courts of Australia sitting in Queensland, and the courts that can hear appeals from them. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
